The Centre’s purpose is to rescue orphaned lynx that have come into contact with humans and also lynx who, for whatever reason, require physical and behavioural rehabilitation so that they can be released into the wild.
January – April 2019
Construction of the complex. The first animals arrive.
We established a place for the animals where they could feel comfortable and which was as near as possible to their natural environment. The animals are rehabilitated in large enclosures which are equipped with cameras and camera traps so that contact with humans is kept to a minimum.
The Adaptation Enclosure is a fairly small space (c. 900 m2) where the animal experience the first stage of their rehabilitation. This is essential for these animals which have spent most of their lives in small cages – some of them may have specific muscular-skeletal problems, or have difficulty with coordination and movement, so they require specifically tailored care.
The main stage of rehabilitation is behavioural and this can only take place in the large forest enclosure which is over a hectare in size.
