The Centre’s staff are specialists with many years of experience with big cats and particularly with Caucasus and Amur leopards, Amur tigers, snow leopards and other mammals.

Since 1997, Viktor has worked as an expert and a consultant responsible for World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) projects researching into and conserving large mammals in different areas of the former Soviet Union.
1999–2009 – coordinator and leader of WWF projects in Turkmenistan. - Conserving leopards in Kopet Dag – a mountainous region on the border of Turkmenistan and Iran; - Conserving and establishing a population of onagers – Asiatic wild ass – in Badkhyz, south-western Turkmenistan; - Research and evaluation of a population of onagers in Turkmenistan; - Evaluation of bustard populations; - Research into the possibility of reintroducing cheetahs in the Ustyurt Plateau in Kazakhstan; - Development of a plan of action to conserve Bactrian deer and Caucasus leopards in their natural surroundings; - Developing and realising a method for the reintroduction of goitered gazelles in West Kopet Dag;
2001–2006 – evaluation of the condition of a population of Caucasus leopards in the Caucasus; - development of projects to conserve Caucasus leopards; - development of programmes for the reintroduction of Caucasus leopards in the Greater Caucasus.
2005, 2013 – evaluation of WWF projects relating to the reintroduction of snow leopards in Mongolia.
2009 – evaluation of the possibility of reintroducing tigers to the Ili-Balkhash delta in Kazakhstan.
2010–2012 – research and evaluation of the snow leopard population in Kyrgyzstan.
2008–2014 – leading field researcher in the following programmes: 1. Amur tiger research in the Russian Far East. 2. Amur leopard research and conservation work in the Russian Far East.
